Essential Therapeutic Massage
Mandy's Background
Mandy is a graduate of Ashmead College. She has been in private practice since she graduated in the spring of 2000. Her focus has always been on really listening to her clients, then creating a healing session to address the unique health care needs of each individual. She relies greatly on her powerful intuition, and stays present and attentive during each treatment.

Mandy only uses highly pure, organic oils and lotions in her practice. The skin is the largest organ of the body; therefore, what we put on it is as important as what we put in it.

What To Expect From A Treatment
From the minute you arrive for your session you will feel the positve energy Mandy has consciously created in her healing space. First time guests will need to fill out a Health History Questionnaire. The information on this form will help identify your specific concerns and needs.

Sessions will vary based on the presented issues. Most sessions are 60 minutes long, but 30 and 90 minute sessions are also an option. Because the oils and lotions are free of parabins and petroleum products, you will leave without oily residue left on your skin.

After the session you may be offered suggestions for personal care at home. This may include: stretches, ice or heat, and possibly some therapeutic grade essential oils. The client should feel a greater sense of relaxation, with an increased awareness of their own body.

Treatments Available
Aromatherapy Massage
Incorporating Aromatherapy and essential oils into a massage takes the therapeutic potential to another level. The Wind Woman only uses highly therapeutic grade essential oils during massages. It is important that even the carrier oils are highly organic. Any synthetic or non organic products would deplete the benefits of the treatment.

A therapeutic aromatherapy massage utilizes the oils by having the client inhale the oils, as well as delivering the oils to the body via various massage techniques. Some oils are included at no additional charge, while others may require an additional fee. Please contact The Wind Woman to inquire which oils will be best for your individual needs and budget.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue treatments may be needed to get to the deeper layers of soft tissue. There are several layers of muscle tissue throughout the body. Some muscles may be four layers deep within the body. In order to effect change and remove adhesions deeper techniques may be necessary.

The Wind Woman is highly skilled at palpating the layers of soft tissue, and identifying the correct amount of pressure needed to release tension and decrease pain. Her goal is to relieve tension without causing unnecessary pain.

When working with the deeper tissues of the body you may need to apply ice to the area of focus for 24 to 48 hours post treatment. It is important to drink plenty of water and take time to rest and relax after a deep tissue session.
Injury Rehabilitation
The Wind Woman is highly trained in injury rehabilitaion. She is always working to advance her skills and knowledge through continuing education. She is happy to work with other healthcare providers you may be seeing in order to provide the best, and most specific care to meet your rehabilitaoin needs.

Most injury rehabilitation has shown to be enhanced by incorporating therapeutic massage. It helps with removing excess inflammation and prevents scar tissue from forming. It also increases circulation to the injured area, which may promote a faster healing time.

The Wind Woman finds many of the essential oils she uses enhance healing to an even greater level. There are oils that assist in decreasing pain, decreasing inflammation and promoting the rebuilding of healthy tissue.
Lymphatic Treatment
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a modality that reduces inflammation in soft tissue by utilizing a stretching and pumping technique on the lymph vessels. It stimulates the contraction of the lymph vessels which moves the fluids out of the affected area draining the connective tissue.

By utilizing the MLD technique one stimulates the lymph system to decrease inflammation due to injuries, which can decrease the time it takes for the body to absorb bruises. This treatment can stimulate the immune system and decrease edema that sometimes occurs post surgeries such as: mastectomy, prostate surgery and other surgeries that involve the removal of lymph nodes. This treatment is enhanced by utilizing the therapeutic benefits of essential oils.
Myofacial Release
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a hands on technique that works with the fascia tissue that runs through out the body. Facia tissue interpenetrates muscles, nerves, bones, arteries and organs. It is one structure, that connects through out the body without interruption. The purpose of facia tissue is to give support and structure to the body.

Due to injuries or poor posture the fascia tissue can sometimes develop adhesions or scar tissue, which leads to pain and movement restriction. The MFR technique helps to slowly release restrictions and decrease adhesions within the facia tissue, allowing the client to regain proper posture and mobilty, while decreasing or eliminating pain.
Pregnancy Massage
The Wind Woman has taken special training to work with women throughout their pregnancy, and after the baby is born. The female body goes through many transformations during the pregnancy experience. It can be highly beneficial to receive massage during this exciting time in life.

There are some essential oils that should be avoided during certain tri-mesters of pregnancy, but there are other oils that are highly supportive with different issues that may arise during pregnancy. One such oil blend is Gentle Baby. This oil helps to decrease stretch marks, decrease tension in muscles of the back, feet and other areas that may be under stress due to the shifts and transformations taking place.
Raindrop Treatment
The Raindrop Technique was developed by Dr Gary Young N.D. Through his research and studies of essential oils he discovered a synergistic combination of single oils and blends that work with the body's energy systems to decrease inflammation and boost the immune system.

This treatment takes an hour with the main focus on the spine and feet. The oils are dropped from approx. 6 to 8 inches above the spine. By using the Vita Flex technique and other massage strokes the oils are worked into the body. Once all of the oils are applied moist heat is applied to the back to help the oils absorb into the body. The oils will remain in the system for up to 5 to 7 days where they will continue to support many systems of the body.
Swedish Relaxation
This is one of the most well known and basic massage techniques available. The Swedish Relaxation Massage is highly beneficial in helping the client to reach a state of complete relaxation. This massage technique induces a peace and calming sensation to the Central Nervous System (CNS). There are several essential oils recommended by The Wind Woman that can relax the body, mind and spirit, and create a feeling of true bliss.
